For the first time in the UK the views of key African and Caribbean Church Leaders on social and political issues are being sought.

The Questionnaire, attached to this Newsletter, when completed will contribute to complete the Black Church Political Mobilisation: A Manifesto for Action.

Week in – week out pastoral leaders and church workers effectively serve their communities delivering a wide range of support and help. How can we express our views together and make the strength of our contribution to social and political concerns more significant than they are? Publication of a Manifesto containing an authentic representation of our views is the answer. This conclusion grew out of the initial meeting of the National Church Leaders Council (NCLF) held at Kingsway International Christian Centre in May 2011 too look especially how we engage with political issues and policy makers.

Following a series of consultations last autumn with activists (OBV, London), academics (Queen’s College, Birmingham), church leaders (NTCG Leadership Training Centre, Northampton) and young people (CTE, London) the questionnaire is designed to further canvass the views of the wider church leadership, especially those who were unable to attend the autumn consultations. Responses will be used to inform the draft document and its final recommendations.
