Radio views and concert news on Grenfell has been expressed in the past week by NCLF Co-Chair Dr David Muir and the London Gospel scene which and short notice gathered artists around the region to express love and support to survivors while raising funds to give to victims families.
On Friday 23rd June Dr David Muir was asked by Premier Christian Radio to contribute on their News Hour programme following the police report that cladding tiled attached to the building has failed safety tests. The request came after NCLF had earlier released a statement which included the wording :
We call upon all authorities to urgently examine all high rise domestic accommodation across the country to either make them safe or demolish them. Poor people are endangered and sometimes die when making profit is more important than human safety. We speak against all those who sacrifice people’s safety and security to the Molech of greed and corporate larceny.
On Sunday 25th June artists from the Gospel Music community rallied support around the Pastors Derrick and Paulette Wilson and the congregants of Tabernacle Christian Centre based on Latimer Road, around the corner from the tragic site. The Church’s venue has became a focal point for survivors and local community from that fateful night. DJ and popular events host Anthony King, aka Pas Da Mic, used his contacts and social media outreach to bring more than twenty-five artists and many more personalities from the scene to deliver an evening of inspirational singing and worship.
The weather held firm as a respectfully number of audience gather with the majority standing for more than four hours to the beats and rhythms of traditional and contemporary British Gospel. The totally enrapture audience raised a total of £4,632.00 (Four Thousand Six Hundred and Thirty-Two Pounds).
